Hello Old Friends

Hi Tripawd Friends! It has been awhile since my last post and there has been quite a few changes since then. The biggest and most exciting change is that I have gained a little sister! She is still tiny (6 months), but I am having lots of fun playing and watching over her. She loves to pet me and watch me hop around while she plays on the floor.

I have been doing well, but recently my pawrents discovered three lumps on my stomach that my doctor diagnosed as tumors. Last week, I had all three of them removed. So far my recovery has been going well, I have been up moving around on my own and constantly want to be outside laying in the sunshine. Today, my pawrents got some hard news from my doctor though. My doctors have determined that one of the three tumors is cancerous. We are waiting to get more information from the oncologists, but wanted to know if any other tripawds have had the same experience and what they may have done. My pawrents are hoping for the best and know I am a strong fighter.

Done with chemo

I have been busy since my last post tackling my chemo treatments and starting to get back to my old favorite hobbies. My pawrents are really proud of me and extremely happy at how well I have been doing. I get to go to work every day with my dad now and have been able to enjoy the wonderful Fall weather sitting out on the screen porch each morning before I head into the office. I get to enjoy my favorite spot on the couch again and can even get up all on my own.

The other day, I had my first attempt at chasing rabbits around the backyard since my surgery and  even though I didn’t have any luck catching any it felt so good to run around again! I have also been able to go on longer walks and can even make it around the block with my mom and dad now – see the video below.

On Tuesday, I completed my last chemo treatment and my pawrents received the best news they have gotten since August…my cancer hasn’t progressed! They couldn’t be any happier and more proud of me. I finally feel like I am back to my old self again and can’t wait to celebrate the holidays with my family.

Getting back in my groove

This week has been an exciting week for me and pawrents, on Thursday I got my stitches out and was able to go on my first car ride since my surgery. My tail has not stopped wagging since then! I have started to walk a bit faster and am desperately wanting to get back up on my favorite couch in the living room. It’s going to happen, I am just waiting for the perfect time when my pawrents aren’t watching! To celebrate this milestone in my journey my pawrents are planning on taking me to my favorite park to enjoy a picnic and some time in the sun together. I am also excited to get my new Ruffwear harness that will help me get in and out the car since I am starting to go back to work with my dad now.  On Monday, we are meeting with my oncologist to discuss my chemo and new diet options. My pawrents are a bit nervous to start the next chapter in my journey, but I am a tough girl and am determined to beat this thing!

Day stitches were removed

My hair has grown back quicker than I expected, but I am still rocking my new “do”.

I got to show off my new clothing accessory this week too! Thanks Tripawd friends for the thoughtful gift.

I’m feeling like my old self again.

Last night was the first night that I was able to sleep through the night. I know my daddy is happy about that! I’m also able to walk around again without pain and I can go up and down stairs with ease now!

My scar is big and scary, but it’ll only get better from here. My hair is starting to grow back too!

I hadn’t been outside in days and it was really hard on me to be cooped up in the house, so my mommy and daddy let me walk outside and lay in the grass, I was so happy!

I know the road ahead is going to be tough, but I’m a tough girl, I’ll get through it.

Hello Tripawds!

Hi Tripawd Friends! My name is Char (short for Charcoal). My mom and dad, Drew and Liz, rescued me three years ago. Since that day I have loved going on car rides, running along the local trail and going to work every day with my dad.

On Thursday, August 8 I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. It was a really hard decision for my parents, but they decided it was best for me to have surgery to remove my front right leg. It has only been a day since my surgery, but they are nursing me back to my old self and I know it won’t be long until I am chasing rabbits in the back yard again.  I am excited to become part of the Tripawd family and am looking forward to sharing my journey with you!
